June Topics: This month, we enter a new mandala, asking, “How are we connected?” We look at the ways human behavior has affected and continues to affect the health of planet Earth. We explore what climate change is and what it is doing to our land, our water, and our air. Climate change is a difficult topic and a reality that we all must face, so we provide strategies for learning and discussion with our young people. Hope is sometimes a radical concept, but an essential tool for taking action with environmental issues. Hope wraps our Earth and ourselves in love and purpose. As we expand our hope, we learn about the universe we live in, and the solar system and planets all around us. We learn about historical conservationists and inspiring youth climate activists from around the world. We learn what we can do to take action to protect and save our beautiful, connected world. And we learn how important our everyday choices, thoughts, and patterns are toward building a brighter, more hope-filled future for us all.

July Topics: This interdisciplinary project is designed to spark your student's interest in their local ecosystem. By choosing an animal that lives in the neighborhood, your student will move through different hands-on activities that will help them learn about their animal through writing, observing, drawing, and moving. These pages are intended to facilitate project-based learning during July when families might take a break from formal academics and spend more time outdoors. The activities combine writing, science, mathematics, art, and movement to create a comprehensive project about an animal neighbor.
